Cherry Decorations is a new product range for Cherry, venturing into the event and table decorating landscape. The strong point of difference are their chic French designs, inexpensiveness and a strong DIY aspect.

To best illustrate to our customers and prospects just how easy to is when it comes to do-it-yourself event or table decorating and styling, Cherry Decorations put together styling kits, a collection of decorations that could be used to decorate one's party of event.

My role was to shoot, edit and put together the Youtube videos to show how to use these styling kits. This included the setting up of the Youtube channel, it's maintenance and promoting it across various platforms such as our social medias (Facebook, Pinterest), webstore and through eDM.

The A. Macdougall showroom could not accomodate for table settings for me to shoot, so fortunately we had an opportunity to shoot the how-to videos at Hart's Party hire, a partner of the Cherry Decorations product range.

The biggest challenge faced in this project was undoubtedly: time. We had only 2 days where we could use the showroom, and the opportunity had come very last minute, which gave virtually no time to prepare exactly what was going to be shot. This meant that many of steps in the how-to video had to be thought of and shot on the fly. To overcome this, I used the first video to develop a process template, which I could then use for the remaining videos.

One other challenge I had to overcome was lighting and backdrops. The showroom provided limited natural lighting, and our equiptment was quite limited. To overcome this, I used white table clothes as a backdrop, which also helped to create a softer light on what I was shooting. I also tried to accomodate by shooting as many close up shots as I could, which would somewhat eliminate the use of a backdrop.
